50 architects, landscape architects, designers and environmental leaders from 15 countries around the world, share their vision to inspire, provoke and educate. In articles, interviews, project presentations and manifestos, they join their voices and vision on sustainability, sustainable design, urbanism and architecture, to amplify a message of social, economic and environ-mental sustainability, embodied in their work. The contributing authors belong to the extended ECOWEEK ‘family.’ They have lectured and/or led ECOWEEK workshops in cities around the world. Among them Kengo Kuma, Bjarke Ingels, Francoise-Helene Jourda, Diebedo Francis Kere, Michael Sorkin, Gernot Minke, Prof. David Orr, Robert Swan, OBE, professionals, leaders and educators, young professionals and students. They share insights about their work - schools, public buildings, housing, rehabilitation of existing buildings, gardens, community gardens, environmental education, environmental leadership, and more - from the angle of sustainability and sustainable design. Editors Dr. Elias Messinas - architect and founding chairman of ECOWEEK - and architect Dan Price, who have authored books separately, joined forces to bring this book to realization. Their aim is to inspire, educate and empower young and established professionals to engage in sustainable design and discover their own voice for sustainability in their work.
