Synopsis

The SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic has evolved very quickly and in some territories has had a devastating impact. Engineering has its contribution in this delicate situation, relying on the fundamental role played by additive manufacturing with 3D printing, to develop final products ready to be implemented in clinical, instrumental and laboratory environments that are required. The book presents the process carried out for the design and construction of a prototype of a delta robot to be used as a 3D printer, with the aim of making prints that allow the construction of solid volumetric parts in less time without affecting the quality of the same. The purpose is to obtain physical models in 3D, from a digital design, applying the techniques of rapid prototyping, for the manufacture of parts and functional elements for medical use to address the situation of shortage of adequate elements of protection and treatment of infection. 3D printing is projected as a vital contribution to the post-pandemic process.
