Synopsis
本书是费尔巴哈哲学史著作，研究的对象是18世纪法国启蒙思想家的先驱、17世纪下半叶有影响的怀疑论者比埃尔培尔。在这本书中，费尔巴哈基于培尔的著作研究培尔的思想。培尔以怀疑论为武器，批判为宗教神学辩护的思辨形而上学和神学目的论（主要批判对象是莱布尼茨的“神正论”和“前定和谐”的观点）。培尔认为思辨形而上学和神学目的论无法说明罪恶的来源，也无法说明惩罚的合法性，培尔进而主张信仰与道德并没有等同关系，认为一个无神论者也完全可以是道德高尚的人，进而设想了一种由无神论者组成的社会的可能性。通过对培尔思想的分析与批评，费尔巴哈发展了自己的宗教观和道德观。
