Synopsis
This is the first one of Golgis autobiographic trilogy, which is also the one with most charms and affection of Golgi. When Aliocha was three years old, his father died of cholera. His mother took him to live with his grandparents. In the family, father and son, brother and brother, husband and wife, intrigued against each other for property. They would fought even for trifles. His grandfather was a moody old man, often beat grandmother hard and beat him into unconsciousness. The grandmother loves Aliocha very much, often told him legends, fairy tales and folk stories, in spite of pressure of life, she did complain a word. Aliochas mother was forced to remarry and died because of tuberculosis. After grandpa went bankrupt, Aliocha was stranded in the world and had to earn his own life.
