Cao Xueqin ( born in 1715 or so,Fengrun, Hebei provience [another said, Tieling or Liaoyang, Liaoning province] ) was a Qing Dynasty Chinese writer, best known as the author of Dream of the Red Chamber, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. His given name was Cao Zhan and his courtesy name is Mengruan. He grew up in a wealth family. However, his family's fortunes decayed gradually. He was talented on paintings and writing, who spent a decade working diligently on a work that must have been Dream of Red Mansions. Dream of Red Mansions is superior in his stylish paintings, particularly of cliffs and rocks, plots, profound thought and originality in poetry, leaving his novel in a very advanced stage of completion. It is general believed that Gao E who claimed to have access to Cao's working papers for the last forty chapters.
