Synopsis
The book consists of two volumes, each containing 15 units. It takes around 120-150 class hours to finish each volume. The style and features of the book are as follows. (1) Key sentences are listed in front of every text and are translated into English. (2) Every text is linked to a situation with a certain function. (3) The new words are explained in English, some of which are briefly introduced to their usage and collocation. (4) Some language points are not directly crammed into students' brain but are generalized by students through analyzing the examples. (5) Some units contain other relevant new words and sentence structures similar to those in the text to help the advanced students expand their vocabulary. (6) The amount of exercise is huge and the patterns are various. There are Pinyin instructions in the first 15 units of volume I,some of which are also includes cultural backgrounds. In volume II, there are many idioms and jokes related to the situation shown in the unit. The book is suitable for the short-term intensive language training of foreign students at basic level.
