《小说界域的划定与研究方法的衍生：金瓶梅 百年研究史及研究个案考察》以鲁迅、吴晗、郑振铎、冯沅君、夏志清、孙述宇、徐朔方、黄霖、梅节、陈文新等十位学者研究《金瓶梅》的学术路径以及治学范式为切入点，从20世纪中国知识体系由传统向现代的转型入手，阐明了中国学术转型期（1911—1937）、中国学术定型期（1938—1978）、中国学术发展期（1979年以后）《金瓶梅》的研究状况。全书还围绕百余年来《金瓶梅》研究的基本情况，阐明了20世纪初期小说界域划定的情况，以及20世纪以来小说研究方法的拓展、衍生情况，还原了百余年间《金瓶梅》研究状况与中国近现代小说观念的生成与发展之间多重的、复杂的关联关系。
