In these years, he concentrated his grate attention on the study of Beijing Hutong culture and history. And he also devoted himself to excavate, to preserve and to develop the local life culture. His first picture album, (Read Hutong} , had been published in January 2001, and after six months, he put on a personal painting exhibition, "Hutong Memory", in Beijing International Art and Literary Gallery.
