Fengshen Yanyi, also known as Fengshen Bang and translated as The Investiture of the Gods or The Creation of the Gods, is a famous novel of gods and spirits. It is based on the history that Jiang Ziya assists King Wu to overthrow King Zhou, the last ruler of the Shang Dynasty. It describes a story that two schools of Taoism match against each other and some of them are granted as gods. The novel includes a large number of folklores and myths. There are lively and clear images like Jiang Ziya and Nezha in it. The story ends in the investiture of gods by Jiang Ziya and the granting of vassals by King Wu of Zhou.
