The old fisherman, Santiago, had been fishing in the sea for 84 days consecutively and still harvested nothing. On the 85th day, Santiago unexpectedly caught a marlin that was even bigger than a ship. The old fisherman spent two days and two nights fighting against the marlin and finally killed it with a spear gun. However, on Santiago¡¯s way back, the smell of blood attracted numerous sharks. Even though Santiago struggled hard against the sharks and even killed some of the sharks, his marlin was eaten up by other sharks. Santiago finally pulled the marlin back to the harbor, only to find a huge pair of skeleton left.
