本教材的编写突出了四个特色：
1．突出职业教育，序化教材内容。根据培养目标，针对学生对应的岗位群，结合执业准入标准要求，将预防医学的学科知识进行了序化重构，使教材内容适应预防医学课程在高职高专层次的"适用""够用""精练"特点。

3．设计多个板块，引导自主学习。教材中设计了"知识链接" "内容小结"及"能力检测"，这些板块可帮助学生在课堂学习的基础上进行自主学习、自我评价。
4．实现工学结合，突出教学改革。编写中充分展现职业技术教育的特色、理念，?肾行动导向教学贯穿其中，各章节以公共卫生与疾病预防实际案例为引导导入学习内容，通过情景案例讨论、公共卫生实践、现场考察调研等实现"做中学、学中做"，提高学生的学习兴趣。
