康熙官窑主要烧造宫廷用瓷，以工精质美取胜。景德镇御窑厂云集全国制瓷高手，烧瓷刻意求精，因而无论是复杂器还是简单器都做得十分考究。官府不仅垄断优质原料，在规模和工艺技术上决非一般民窑可比。许多御器生产由内廷发瓷样烧制，产品不仅满足宫廷的各种需求，同时也包括对文武大臣的赏赐和对外交换、贸易。客观上促使制瓷技术达到了所烧俱皆“精莹纯全”的境地。 康熙朝虽然五彩瓷器以及各种颜色釉也很著名，但瓷业生产仍以青花为主流，烧造数量大，流传范围广，显示出青花瓷器蓬勃发展的盛况。 独树一帜的康熙青花瓷，素以胎、釉精细，颜色鲜丽明爽，造型多样，精细粗犷并存，豪放工致兼有，纹饰优美、纯朴、大方而久负盛名，蜚声中外。是清代历朝所无法比拟的，生产水平和艺术水平都达到了青花瓷器的高峰。也是继明代永、宣青花之后，我国青花瓷器的又一个黄金时代。甚至有人认为与永、宣青花相比有过之无不及，在中国陶瓷发展史上占有相当重要的历史地位。据成书于清代的《陶雅》记载：“雍乾两朝之青花，盖远不逮康窑。然则青花一类，康青虽不及明青之浓美者，亦可以独步本朝矣。”《饮流斋说瓷》谓：“硬彩，青花均以康窑为极轨。”清《在园杂志》中也说：“至国朝御窖一出，超了前代，其款式规模，造作精巧。”文献与传世品均表明，清代的青花瓷以康熙朝的产品*能反映当时的工艺水平。
