Synopsis
《芥子园画传》，又称《芥子园画谱》。清代知名文学家李渔，曾在南京造园[芥子园]，并支持其婿沈心友及王概、王蓍、王臬三兄弟编绘画谱，以明代李流芳课徒画稿为编绘基础，成书出版时，即以此园名之。一六七九年刻印出版初集，一七〇一年出版二、三集。全书共分三集，囊括了山石、树木、人物、屋宇、梅、兰、竹、菊、草虫、花卉及禽鸟，每集首列画法浅说，或画法歌诀，次摹诸家画式，末为摹仿名家画稿。一草一木、一笔一墨，循序渐进，浅显易懂，从局部到整体，循循善诱，给人以具体的入门途径，极便初学者入手。一八一八年书坊又将丁皋《写真秘诀》一卷及择选《晚笑堂画集》等人物画谱中的图绘编撰成《仙佛图》《贤俊图》《美人图》三卷，合刻刊印成第四集的人物画谱。并提出绘画[启人逸致，夺造化而移精神]的艺术观念，认为[画至于神，能事毕矣，岂有不自然者]。认为[神]必须建立在形的基础上，以形写神，形外而神内。
