Synopsis

In the summer of 1943, a British army who was tired of war was sent to Catania, the coast city of Sicily. The core of this novel was love story between sergeant Craddock and a young mother. Their love began with the arrival of British army and ended when the British army was ordered to chase the defeated German army to the north.

About the Author
Alexander Baron (1917-99) was born into a Jewish East End family, Baron joined the communist party at school and enlisted in 1939. His experiences at both D-Day and the Sicily landings informed his bestselling war novels, culminating in There's No Home (1950). He went on to write fourteen novels, and several screenplays.
