Synopsis
本书旨在以马克思主义哲学自然观为指导思想，以怀特海于1919年在剑桥大学出版社出版的《自然知识原理研究》一书为主要研究对象，围绕这本书的主题以及怀特海自然哲学后来的发展及其影响，从不同角度进行了深入细致的学术探讨。各篇论文虽相对独立，其内容实则有内在的关联性，所研究的主题均是关于怀特海自然哲学相关问题的探讨。有的论文侧重于考察怀特海自然哲学的创立过程及其发展历程；有的论文重点探讨怀特海在《自然知识原理研究》中提出的新观点，并与现代西方哲学中的其他自然哲学或科学哲学观点作比较；有的论文探讨了怀特海自然哲学对古代和近代西方自然哲学的继承和发展，尤其是对相对论和量子力学的哲学概括和总结；有的论文对怀特海自然哲学与中国哲学中的自然哲学思想作对比研究；有的论文探讨了怀特海自然哲学与其后期的形而上学思想的关系，侧重研究作为生态哲学和环境哲学的怀特海有机哲学与生态文明建设的关系；有的论文根据怀特海自然哲学的基本观点，对现代科学中蕴含的实体自然观、事实与价值相对立的二元论观点等进行了分析和批判。各篇论文作者均是国内相关高校教师。同时还有外国学者撰写的几篇论文的译文。
