Synopsis
This is the only full-length novel of the American writer Jerome David Salinger who limits the happening time of the story to the three days from the 16-year-old middle school student Holden Caulfield leaving school to wandering in Manhattan. He learns the way of writing from the stream of consciousness, fully exploring a teenage boy's inner world. Anger and anxiety are two main themes of the book. The hero's experiences and ideas have caused a strong response among young people especially the college and high school students.
