本书为由上海市对外交流协会特别支持，上海新华发行集团、上海天协文化、法国巴黎马摩丹莫奈博物馆共同主办的“日出·印象”莫奈展展览图录。 本书是由展览策展人马摩丹莫奈博物馆副馆长，学术总监玛丽安娜·马蒂厄女士全程参与编撰，图片均由馆方提供和实拍。与其他展览图录不同的是，书中不仅呈现了展览画作精彩的整体图和细节图，还通过主题、影响、时间的推定、画作争议四个角度分析了《日出·印象》这张莫奈著名的作品，全方面了解这张画。另外，法国两位著名的艺术家通过自己的作品呈现出自己眼中的《日出·印象》，在书中也撰文分析了当代艺术家们是如何将这张艺术品衍发出现代光芒的。另外本书不仅收录了展览的九张莫奈画作，还包含莫奈其他的相关作品。
