Synopsis
在中国艺术中，芭蕉深深植根于江南本土文化，通过艺术，它传遍了中国，甚至远播域外。最早描绘芭蕉树是在何时，这个问题没有简单的答案，因为大部分早期材料已泯灭不存。一块可追溯到6世纪末期葬床上的画像石，可能是现存最早的芭蕉树描绘图像之一。还有同时期的敦煌莫高窟壁画和佛教碑刻。唐初的自然诗，围绕芭蕉的方方面面，赋写题诗，诗作颇丰。编纂于八世纪末、九世纪初的宫廷图鉴《宣和画谱》中，有几幅画以“蕉”为题，但这些画都已失传。明代在南方文人画的背景下，芭蕉画达到了巅峰。这一发展绝非线性的。相反，多种因素促成了芭蕉母题图案的演变，层次越来越细微，丰富了其图像意义。本书每一篇章，作者都选择了体现芭蕉不同图像特征的代表性文物，通过研究，旨在赋予它新的个人意义并探索新颖的艺术表现途径。
