《古典文库：红楼梦》以程乙本为底本，校以各脂砚斋本及各程本，参校较多者为脂砚斋己卯本、庚辰本、甲戌本和《乾隆抄本百廿回红楼梦稿》、《列宁格勒藏抄本石头记》及程甲本、王雪香评本及俞平伯《红楼梦八十回校本》，回目为一百二十回。在校勘上，依程、高“广集核勘，准情酌理，补遗订讹”的准则，择善而从，使此本具有情理通协、前后接榫的特点。
