Synopsis
《古文观止》是清初康熙年间，吴楚材、吴调侯叔侄两人编选的一部古文选本。 此书所辑，上起先秦，下迄明末，长达二千余年，共收录文章二百二十二篇，分为十二卷。 此书所收文章，以散文为主，兼及骈文、辞赋。其中，又以《左传》《国语》《战国策》等先秦历史散文，《史记》等汉代散文，以及“唐宋八大家”的代表人物韩、柳、欧、苏的散文为重点，约占全书篇幅的一半以上。 这些文章，大部分思想性、艺术性都比较高，有不少脍炙人口、千古传诵的佳作名篇；同时，又呈现出不同的题材、文章式样和艺术风格，在一定程度上展现了中国古代散文的概貌；而且这些文章大多篇制短小，内容精悍，语言简洁，感情充沛，便于阅读、吟诵，便于揣摩、学习，也便于携带、收藏。所以，《古文观止》自刊行问世以来的三百多年，能风行海内，流传不衰，受到广泛的关注和欢迎。 在本书中，每篇文章均包括原文、注释、译文、赏析四个部分。本书的原文以中华书局1959年版《古文观止》为蓝本，并根据文义分出段落。标点和文字以现行规范为准，但通假字、古今字基本照旧，必要时在注释中加以说明。注释部分重在解说“今译”难以解决的古代典章、器物、礼仪及有关人物史实，同时兼顾难以理解的语词。译文尽可能忠实原文，以利读者文白对照。由于多种因素的制约，并为了使译文尽可能畅达，翻译时自然不可处处拘泥原文，所以也免不了采用意译的办法。赏析部分旨在阐明原文的思想内容和艺术特点，兼及必要的文史知识，严格从文本出发，力求简明、准确，不做更多的引申和考证，期待读者自己去阅读、领悟和思考。
