Synopsis
《三字经》的开头一句：“人之初，性本善。”就是孟子说的！ 孟子名轲，战国时邹人，是孔子之后儒家代表人物。他发扬了孔子的学说并使之光大于后世，被后世尊为“亚圣”。历史上将孔子、孟子并称，即所谓“孔孟”之道。宋代的大学者朱熹称赞孟子“《六经》如千斛之舟，而孟子是运舟之人。”大理学家程颐认为孟子：“学已到至处，其有功于圣门，不可胜言。” 邓启铜注释的《孟子》集中收录了孟子的言论和学说，为儒家经典中的“四书”之一。全书虽仅三万余言，但却言简意丰。《孟子》倡导仁政王道，主张“民为贵，社稷次之，君为轻”，写下了“天将降大任于斯人也，必先苦其心志，劳其筋骨，饿其体肤”、“得道者多助，失道者寡助”、“老吾老，以及人之老；幼吾幼，以及人之幼”、“五十步笑百步”等千古名言。《孟子》雄辩精深，说理精到，文笔优美，曲折尽情，开散文之先河，在思想、文章方面对后世影响深远。
