Preface

The beauty of simplicity

What do we mean when we refer to the word, "simple"? Generally, we mean something that is not difficult, is easy, uncomplicated and without stress. Sometimes we refer to "simple" as something that is available to everyone, not only to the well educated, or to the rich and famous.

When I lived in Australia before settling down in my new home, the Czech Republic, I would often gaze upon the vast blue ocean beaches and contemplate the deep truth, that it is the simplest things in life that bring us the most happiness. I would watch wave after wave come crashing towards the shore as I pondered how nature always seemed to bring us back to the realization of what is really important in life. I couldn t help but wonder why we as mankind are so intent upon complicating our lives.

In modern times we have destroyed much of what is natural around us. We have forgotten that we as human beings have to interact with our natural environment, since our world is an endless transfer of energy from one medium to another. We have closed ourselves off in a world full of low-energy, man-made computer technology, unhealthy working conditions, and modern stress that our early ancestors never had to endure. Our fast-paced lifestyles have created greater nutritional demands on our bodies. Ignoring that need, we fill our stomachs with fast food and instant preparations full of chemical additives as we constantly search for complicated solutions to our growing health problems. Do you know that statistically we are less healthy than we were 60 years ago? Yes, we are perhaps living longer than we did a hundred years ago, but are we living a quality life? Do we even know what a quality healthy life is? Certainly it is not one that involves several bouts of flu every year, or the feeling of chronic fatigue where we have to drag ourselves up every morning to go to work. It certainly doesn t mean that our back and joints ache or that our head often hurts, or that we get out of breath every time we climb a short flight of stairs. A quality healthy life surely doesn t mean that at the end of the working day we barely have enough energy left to watch TV and fall into bed.

A quality healthy life is rare these days, but simply like a sunset or the cascading ocean waves, it is available to most of us. All we need to do is to open our eyes and return to a natural way of life. Our modern world has forced us to grow accustomed to taking drugs for every common ailment. However, we have not been made to understand that we cannot fool our bodies by man-made preparations with frequently dangerous side effects; we can only fool ourselves. Mankind has invented a variety of complicated methods to diagnose disease, including x-rays, CAT scans, blood tests, electrocardiographs, and a number of technologically sophisticated tests. Patients undergoing them are often placed through time-consuming, often painful, and sometimes hazardous procedures to determine what disease they really have. Every year companies search for technology that promises to diagnose a disease more accurately and they invest millions of dollars in research. However, I have found in my practice with patients that many had often endured endless tests with absolutely no results, or the disease had been diagnosed but the root of the disease remained unknown.

Surprisingly, we already have at our disposal the most naturally sophisticated tool for diagnosing not just disease, but most importantly, the causes of disease. It is something that almost all of us possess, our eyes. Yes, it is these magnificent organs that allow us not only to view the world around us, but that also act as a map to every organ, gland, and system in our body.

It is because of my strong belief in and passion for iridology, the art and science of diagnosing health status from what is seen in the iris, pupil, and sclera of the eyes, that I am sharing this book with you. I thank the thousands of patients whose eyes I have photographed over several years for allowing me to accumulate enough research material to base this book upon. Welcome to an intriguing world and a fascinating branch of alternative medicine. In my opinion, iris diagnosis is the only real method I know of that at a glance can provide me with a wonderfully true picture of a patient s entire health status. Iris diagnosis has helped a great many patients learn more about their state of health and what to do to make improvements.

This book is for everyone, including health professionals who want to investigate making diagnosis from the eyes. I hope you enjoy the book and learn from it, but most of all I hope it will inspire you and provide you with an alternative outlook on how health can be viewed in the human body.

Remember, the eyes are not only the windows to our souls; they are hidden maps to our bodies.

This book is dedicated to the beauty of simplicity, which inspired it; for in every complicated array of problems there is often just a simple solution, or an unsophisticated answer. We just have to open our eyes. This is the beauty of simplicity.
