About the Author

Rabindranath Tagore is one of India s most cherished Renaissance figures a poet, short-story writer, novelist, dramatist, essayist, painter and composer. One of the foremost minds of his time, he was a social, political and religious thinker, an innovator in education and a champion of the One World idea. He was the first Indian to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature for his beautiful verses Gitanjali in 1913. He has also been instrumental in shaping modern Indian literature.
