Synopsis
Hindu poet or Muslim Saint, the story of Kabir is one that still strives to unite Hindu and Islamic beliefs. The Bijak, or seedling, contains his principal beliefs in a collection of poems. These poems speak of Brahman, karma and reincarnation, three topics which find opposing views in Hinduism and Islam. His earthy style permeated with the message of a true guru, one who reveals through direct experience rather than through chanting and discourse. Beginning uniquely with insults to seek the attention of passersby, these poems project Kabir's role as one of the most easily accessible and comprehensible Indian poets and saints.
