Emerging confidently from darkness and silence, she won over her blindness and deafness. Armed with curiosity and imagination, she was grateful for the senses and skills she possessed. Meet Helen Keller, whose life, is a classic example of unfaltering determination. Detailing her experiences from childhood till the age of twenty-one and the beautiful relationship the shared with Anne Sullivan, her governess and companion, The Story of My Life is an engaging account of Helen Keller's growing up years. This version includes exclusive letters exchanged between Helen and Anne Sullivan Macy (Helen's teacher and lifelong companion) between 1897-1901.

Helen Adams Keller was born healthy in June 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Struck by a terrible illness when she was barely nineteen months old, Helen was left blind and deaf for life. At the age of six, Keller was referred to Alexander Graham Bell by the physician, J. Julian Chisholm. A prolific author, political activist, and lecturer, she was the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. The story of how Keller's teacher, Anne Sullivan, broke through the isolation imposed by a near complete lack of language, allowing the girl to blossom as she learned to communicate, has become widely known through the dramatic depictions of the play and film The Miracle Worker.
