The book attempts to address the extension and management issues in overall implementation of the watershed projects. Examining the goals, programmes, structure and functioning of watershed projects, it describes organizational, technological and socio-economic issues in the implementation of watershed projects.

Specially focusing on the National Watershed Development Programme for Rainfed Area (NWDPRA), it presents a process analysis from policy to programme and implementation. It also offers insight into the perceptions and experience of project personnel and farmers on selected aspects of watershed development.

About the Author

Dr Purushottam is presently a Senior Scientist at IIPR, Kanpur. Did his M.Sc from AAI-DU Allahabad and Ph.D from IARI, New Delhi, he worked with Dr B P Sinha in ICAR-AP Cess funded project for two years. He was selected for ARS-1995 and joined as Scientist (Agril. Ext.) in 1998 at VPKAS, Almora where he worked under NATP project on Watershed Development and TAR (IVLP). He specialized himself in Training and Development (Dip. T & D) in 2006 from ISTD, New Delhi. He has to his credit over 30 publications. Also, he is handling a DBT and NABARD projects as Principal Investigator.

Dr Baldeo Singh is presently Joint Director (Extension) at IARI, New Delhi. Earlier, he has worked as Lecturer at CSA University; Scientist and Senior Scientist at ICAR Institute; Head (KVK) at IARI; Principal Scientis, Professor & Head (Agril. Ext.), at IARi since 1970. He has 38 years of professional experience in research, teaching training, extension and management. He has to his credit over 250 research publications. He has compiled/edited/authored 15 books. Also, he has organized 27 advanced training courses.
