Synopsis
Suffering from an acute identity crisis product of a failed marriage and an unsuccessful romantic relationship, historian Floreana Fabres arrives at a unique retreat home for women located in a secluded area eight hours away from Santiago de Chile. While working towards finding her balance once again Floreana reviews her life, work, dreams, and disappointments, her relationship with her son and her family, as well as her radical and rather pessimistic outlook on love. El albergue de las mujeres tristes is a treatise on the complexities of love, the love between parents and their children, brothers and sisters, friends, and, most of all, the love between a man and a woman.

Un grupo de mujeres chilenas se recuperan de sus crisis sentimentales en un peculiar albergue solo para mujeres a mas de mil kilometros de Santiago de Chile. Hacia alli parte la historiadora Floreana Fabres, para poner sus ideas en orden, victima de una aguda crisis de identidad despues del fracaso de su matrimonio y de una nueva relacion sentimental que ella habia considerado fundamental. Floreana aprovecha su retiro para repasar su vida, su profesion, sus anhelos, sus fracasos, la relacion con su hijo y con su familia, su radical y pesimista concepto del amor.
