Synopsis
Ésta es la novela más personal de Bernardo Atxaga. En ella recorremos, como si miráramos un mosaico hecho con distintos tiempos, lugares y estilos, la historia de dos amigos: Joseba y David, el hijo del acordeonista.
Desde los años treinta hasta finales del siglo XX, desde Obaba hasta California, de la infancia en la escuela a los infiernos de la guerra y de la violencia, Atxaga aborda de forma valiente el tema de la memoria, la nostalgia, la amistad y también de la tristeza del que deja su tierra sabiendo que no volverá.
Y en el centro de las múltiples ramificaciones de esta historia, la única posibilidad de salvación frente a las circunstancias más dramáticas: el amor.

About the Author
Bernardo Atxaga (Asteasu, Gipuzkoa, 1951) es uno de los creadores de mayor hondura y originalidad en el panorama literario contemporáneo. Se licenció en Ciencias Económicas y desempeñó varios oficios hasta que, a comienzos de los ochenta, consagró su quehacer a la literatura. La brillantez de su tarea fue justamente reconocida cuando su libro Obabakoak (1989) recibió el Premio Euskadi, el Premio de la Crítica, el Prix Millepages y el Premio Nacional de Narrativa. La novela ha sido llevada al cine con el título Obaba. A Obabakoak le siguieron novelas como El hombre solo (1994), que obtuvo el Premio Nacional de la Crítica de narrativa en euskera, Dos hermanos (1995), Esos cielos (1996), El hijo del acordeonista (2004, Premio Grinzane Cavour, Premio Mondello, Premio Times Literary Supplement Translation Prize y Premio de la Crítica 2003 en su edición en euskera) y Siete casas en Francia (2009, finalista en el Independent Foreign Fiction Prize2012, finalista en el Oxford Weidenfeld Translation Prize 2012). También es autor de libros de poesía como Poemas & Híbridos, cuya versión italiana obtuvo el Premio Cesare Pavese de 2003. Su obra ha sido traducida a 32 lenguas. Es miembro de la Academia de la Lengua Vasca.
