About the Author
Manuel Rivas nacio en A Coruna. Desde muy joven escribio en periodicos y parte de sus articulos estan recogidos en El periodismo es un cuento (1997) y Mujer en el bano (2003). Una muestra de su poesia esta recogida en la antologia El pueblo de la noche (1997). Como narrador, entre otras obras, ha publicado Un millon de vacas (1990), Premio de la Critica espanola, y Los comedores de patatas (1992) -ambas reunidas en el volumen El secreto de la tierra (1999)-, En salvaje compania (1994), Premio de la Critica gallega, Que me quieres, amor? (1996), Premio Torrente Ballester y Premio Nacional de Narrativa -que incluye el relato ''La lengua de las mariposas'', en el que se baso la pelicula del mismo titulo-, y El lapiz del carpintero (1998), Premio de la Critica espanola y Premio de la seccion belga de Amnistia Internacional. Ademas, ha publicado los libros de relatos Ella, maldita alma (1999), La mano del emigrante (2001) y Las llamadas perdidas (2002), y la obra dramatica El heroe (2006).
