Magia en la valle captures in photographs the annual festival celebrated each April in Alcoy, Spain. The Fiesta celebrates the day in 1276 when St. George miraculously appeared in the sky on his white horse, turning the tide of battle against the Moors who were attacking the town of Alcoy. The photographs show the participants in the re-enactment of the story, with hundreds of citizens dressed as Christian and Moor warriors, wizards, African slaves and St. George himself. The 105 photographs by famed photographer Paco Grau were presented in a traveling exhibition in 1992-93. Text in Spanish and English.
