Aimeric Picaud recogió el fruto de toda esta actividad en el llamado Liber Sancti Iacobi, más conocido como Codex Calixtinus, por ser el propio Calixto II quien impulsó la obra, cuyo Libro V puede considerarse la primera guía del peregrino compostelano.
