Synopsis
In this charming and poignant tale, a young elephant and a small tree become fast friends. As they grow, they explore their forest home: the elephant tells the tree of what he’s seen on his journeys, and the tree—taller than any other in the forest—describes the outside world to his friend. Both soon discover, though, that life can take some unexpected and challenging turns. Regardless of the circumstances, however, they learn that friendship can overcome any number of obstacles. The simple, spare illustrations will capture the attention of young readers as they learn about the importance of solidarity and environmental conservation.

About the Author
Jin Pyn Lee is a freelance designer, a filmmaker, and a writer. She and five other amateur filmmakers were chosen by Animal Planet from among 34,000 applicants worldwide to participate in the television series Unearthed. Her experience observing and filming the elephants of the Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa inspired The Elephant and the Tree.
