María Zambrano concibió esta obra como un texto independiente, completo en sí mismo y autosuficiente, pero como tal sólo había sido publicado una vez en América (La Habana, 1940) y ninguna en España. Ahora, Vaso Roto viene a llenar este agujero, publicando el texto como el libro que siempre debió ser, en una cuidada edición y cuyo prologuista es uno de los mayores estudiosos de María Zambrano: Rogelio Blanco Martínez.
