About the Author:
Javier Marias (nacio en Madrid en 1951). Es autor de las novelas Los dominios del lobo, Travesia del horizonte, El monarca del tiempo, El siglo, El hombre sentimental (Premio Internazionale Ennio Flaiano), Todas las almas (Premio Ciudad de Barcelona), Corazon tan blanco (Premio de la Critica, Prix l Oeil et la Lettre,IMPAC International Dublin Literary Award), Manana en la batalla piensa en mi (Premio Fastenrath, Premio Internacional Romulo Gallegos, Premio Arzobispo Juan de San Clemente, Prix Femina etranger, Premio Mondello Citta di Palermo) y Negra espalda del tiempo. Tambien es autor de los libros de relatos Mientras ellas duermen, Cuando fui mortal y Mala indole, de las colecciones de articulos Pasiones pasadas, Literatura y fantasma, Vida del fantasma, Mano de sombra, Sere amado cuando falte y Salvajes y sentimentales; de las breves semblanzas y retratos Vidas escritas y Miramientos, de las antologias Cuentos unicos y El hombre que parecia no querer nada, y de Si yo amaneciera otra vez y Desde que te vi morir; homenajes a Faulkner y Nabokov, respectivamente. En 1997 recibio el Premio Nelly Sachs, en Dortmund, Alemania; en 1998, el Premio Comunidad de Madrid; y en 2000, el Premio Grinzane Cavour , en Turin, y el Premio Alberto Moravia, en Roma, todos ellos por el conjunto de su obra. Es Chevalier del Ordredes Arts et des Lettres, de Francia. Entre sus traducciones cabe destacar Tristram Shandy (Premio Nacional de Traduccion 1979). Fue profesor en la Universidad de Oxford, en Wellesley College (Massachusetts) y en la Complutense de Madrid. Sus obras se han traducido a veintinueve lenguas y se han publicado en treinta y nueve paises, con casi cuatro millones de ejemplares vendidos en todo el mundo.
