Synopsis
A primeros de 1605 se ponía a la venta la primera edición de EL INGENIOSO HIDALGO DON QUIJOTE DE LA MANCHA; su aparición constituyó un rotundo éxito hasta el punto de que en ese mismo año se hicieron tres ediciones más en Madrid, tres en Lisboa y otras tres en Valencia.La segunda parte no aparecería editada hasta diez años más tarde en Madrid.

About the Author
Miguel de Cervantes nació en Alcalá de Henares en 1547. A los 20 años estudia Retórica y Arte Poético en Madrid con Lopez de Hoyos. en 1569 marcha a Italia y poco tiempo después se enrola en el ejército, y tras tomar parte en varias campañas, es herido en Lepanto, quedando inútil del brazo izquierdo. En 1575 sale de Nápoles, pero su nave es capturada por los turcos y enviado a Argel como prisionero. Tras varios intentos de fuga es liberado y regresa a ESpaña en 1580. En 1583 estrena en Madrid LA DESTRUCCIÓN DE NUMANCIA, LOS TRATOS DE ARGEL y otras comedias más. Un año más tarde contrae matrimonio y al siguiente publica LA GALATEA. En 1602 ingresa en la cárcel de Sevilla donde debió de escribir la primera parte de DON QUIJOTE DE LA MANCHA; a mediados de 1605 el libro sale a la calle. La edición se agota rápidamente. La segunda parte sale a la luz en 1615. Un año después acaba de escribir LOS TRABAJOS DE PERSILES Y SEGISMUNDA. Este último libro quedó acabado el 19 de abril de 1616. Cervantes enferma y muere el 23 de ese mes.
