The Tractatus des Transcentibus of Franciscus de Mayronis was written during the fourteenth century and is, in fact, the first autonomous tract on transcendentalism in the history of philosophy. Mayronis links up with the theory on transcendentalism of his teacher Johannes Duns Scotus whose teachings already contained a fundamental breach with the metaphysics of the Middle Ages. The shift of emphasis made by Scotus as opposed to the classical theory is enhanced by the Tractatus. German text.
