A collection of essays on Aristotles' theory of action. Studies on Aristotle's ethics have underlined the importance of the notion of action for the aristotelic concept of happiness, but they often failed to explore this notion sufficiently. The main themes that are treated here are, the method to be used in the general philosophical study of human action and the method used by Aristotle when he defines what should be considered action in the proper sense or praxis. The ontology of action also is examined and the problem of the distinction between praxis and physical movement and between praxis and immobility is discussed. From an anthropological point of view, the theme of the objective action is linked to the theme of success: what does it mean to say that a moral action is efficient? What is an accomplished action?
