Synopsis
Centuries of iconic Flemish art was re-imagined by Antwerp artist Jan Vanriet for the 2010 exhibition Closing Time. 150 works by Old and Modern masters at Antwerps Royal Museum of Fine Art were redisplayed alongside 175 of Vanriets own works, in a grand tour of stylistic and thematic synergies. Almost all the museums galleries were rearranged to accommodate Closing Time; technique, narrative and imagery were connected skillfully, as old masters looked topical and Vanriets vibrant canvases acknowledged local art history.
