From the Author's Preface: Strata control engineering is a fundamental aspect of mineral engineering being concerned with controlling the movement of the underground openings such as are found in mines, tunnels, or petroleum operations. Also, the author cites the reduction in fatalities and injuries as a result of better strata control.
