Synopsis
BiSL products focus on Business Information Management: a professional approach to business information management and good co-ordination of the required processes has become essential. BiSL covers the effective integration of IT activities (in-house or outsourced) and overall information provision to the organization. Established nearly a decade ago this framework has gone from strength to strength: the frameworks provide specific guidance for managers and practitioners in the application management and business information management domains and easily interface with other generic frameworks such as ISO/IEC20000 and ITIL. The BiSL (and ASL) frameworks have achieved a large degree of acceptance by both IT Service Providers (mostly using ASL) and user organizations (BiSL), which frequently specify adherence to ASL when outsourcing application management work. Both are fast becoming increasingly popular around the globe: recent research carried out by Dimension Data (2008), discovered that 32% of organizations are engaged with the ASL framework, even higher than CMMi, the de facto standard for high quality application development.
