This first edition was limited to 1500 hardbound copies (500 each in Dutch, English and French). Heartbeat is Botman's first book; it consists of grainy, contemplative black and white photographs accompanied by poetic text. The autobiographical and non-linear style of the work suggests the transient nature of life.
