This is a corpus-based study of sentential object complements in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). The theoretical linguistic framework is functionalistic. In the major, descriptive part of the work, morphological, syntactic and semantic features of MSA complements to three classes of complement-taking predicates (CTPs) are considered. The data are also analyzed in a search for syntactic-semantic correlations. The uses of the complementizers as well as the use of complements without a complementizer are investigated.
