"One of Scandinavia's best crime writers"—The London Times
While vacationing on the Swedish island Gotland, a young father of two is shot on the beach while jogging. Assistant commissioner Karin Jacobsson, who must lead the investigation while Anders Knutas is on vacation, is at a loss until another horrific crime is committed. Mari Jungstedt successfully combines a thrilling, raw crime novel with a multilayered relational drama.

"There is an icy dispassionate grip to Jungstedt’s writing that recalls Henning Mankell." Metro
"For some considerable time, cognoscenti of the best Scandinavian crime fiction have been aware that Mari Jungstedt’s Inspector Knutas novels are among the most rarefied and satisfying pleasures afforded by the field." Barry Forshaw, author of Death in a Cold Climate: A Guide to Scandinavian Crime Fiction Writers
"The Dead of Summer is a well crafted crime fiction novel. The side stories and Jungstedt’s excellent characterizations contribute significantly to making the series interesting to follow. The ending is quite surprising and superb. Mari Jungstedt has once more written an excellent crime fiction and a book that you will greatly enjoy if you like a good, solid read with a smart, well thought-out plot!” Nordic Bookblog
"The Dead of Summer is very much a timeless mystery novel." EuroCrime, blog
