Synopsis

Agricultural and information and communications technologies, and their potential benefits for the poor, are the focus of these contributions from a June 2001 meeting organized by the Asian Development Bank and the OECD Development Center. A conceptual framework for mapping the connections between technology and poverty is presented, and the impact of the intellectual property regime on technology diffusion from richer to poorer countries is discussed. Other topics examined include financing information technology diffusion, and lessons from the experiences of Ireland and Portugal. There is no subject index. Annotation c.
