V. K. Natraj was a professor of development studies in the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Mysore for three decades. After retirement he was the director of the Madras Institute of Development Studies in Chennai and chaired a working group on decentralization for the Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission. A.Vaidyanathan occupies a preeminent place in the field of academic research and policymaking for his contributions to irrigation and water management. He has worked for the National Council for Applied Academic Research, Planning Commission, Center for Development Studies, and the Madras Institute of Development Studies.
