Synopsis
Perl is a powerful, stable and feature rich programming language that is used in hundreds of platforms ranging from portable systems to mainframe computers. It is suited for both large scale project development and rapid prototyping.
Learning Perl or “the Llama” as it is popularly known by generations of users, is based on the very popular Perl course that is being taught by the authors since 1991. It has been updated to cover the most recent changes in the programming language right up to version 5.14.
Learning Perl teaches the reader the basics of the Perl programming language that is suitable for short fixes and complete web development projects across platforms. It teaches the reader on writing programmes up to 128 lines in length that are typically the size of most of the Perl programs that are being used currently. Practice exercises follow each of the chapters and help the reader on strengthening their understanding of each topic.
