Synopsis

Amidst jhamak-tamak sunsets and groves of Malgova mangoes, whirling winds and growling thunderheads, maxi taxis and leafy forests, meet a remarkable cast of two- and four-legged characters in 15 entertaining stories calling out to be heard — because they are meant to be read aloud! Written in prose and verse by some of India’s best known writers, all are rich with sound and rhythm and repetition, slipping comfortably into local language where natural — features of the oral tradition that are certain to draw young children into the world of stories, words and the imagination. Ashok Rajagopalan’s illustrations add fun and energy in his inimitable style.
