The Prince and the Pauper tells the story of two young boys who, despite being doppelgängers, lead drastically different lives. On the eve of his coronation the Prince of Wales, Edward Tudor, meets Tom Canty, a child from an impoverished and abusive family. The two decide to temporarily trade places, leading to a series of hijinks as the Royal Court begins suspecting that the prince has gone insane, while Edward contends with the harsh realities of life in sixteenth-century London.
