The book is about a framework called Function Analysis System Technique (FAST) which is embedded in the Value Engineering methodology. Value Engineering (VE) is a methodology that helps companies to rationalize costs. This book on FAST is intended to increase the capabilities of VE practitioners and students. It is a step-by-step self-learning tool to one of the most critical aspects of Value Engineering. The book focuses on the following three themes: Concept of Function Analysis System Technique: This will provide practitioners and students a lucid self-learning tool that will enable them to approach cost rationalization programs or process improvement assignments with deeper conceptual knowledge. Enabling tool for a wider cross-section of readers: The book focuses on a wide range of applications of the technique. It is also intended for students/practitioners of Value Engineering as this is the key obstacle in implementation of this technique, as there is paucity of books on this topic. Academic resource for certification programs: The book is aligned to the needs of students/practitioners who seek knowledge in order to pursue Value Engineering Certifications.
