Synopsis
Collection is the pivot around which all the activities of the library revolve. The library which possesses adequate and well-balanced collections based on the current academic, research and future demands can withstand the onslaught of the more pin-pointed needs of the user community it serves.
Quality of collection may enhances or mar the image of university library. Thus university libraries are playing an important role in collection development of documents, hence it is felt that a study is needed to assess the financial aspect of the library which is the major factor of collection development, where finances and infrastructural facilities determine the nature of a collection development policy. In the case of a university library the parent body apportions the funds for the library.
